Our Mission

The mission of Centenary Community Ministries is to develop sustainable communities through the revitalization of people and place.

In 2009 Centenary United Methodist Church created Centenary Community Ministries, Inc., a separate 501(c)(3), to expand the Church's community outreach. Back then, CCMI was simply a way to feed our houseless neighbors on a larger scale.

Today, CCMI has developed its own distinct organizational identity, including the development of several new programs and the growth of existing ones. CCMI has also had the privilege of adapting to Macon’s growing industries by building relationships with local non-profit organizations and faith communities. Collaboration and partnership is a vital way that CCMI works toward its mission of developing sustainable communities through the revitalization of people and place. Our programs include a Transitional House for men in recovery from substance abuse, a Financial Outreach program for utility assistance, our beloved Community Garden and more.

CCMI's work in the community has enabled families facing eviction to remain in their homes by preventing utilities from being disconnected; it has helped men in recovery feel safe and secure in their sobriety; it has also offered sustainable resources like clothes, transportation, and food to neighbors with little to no income. This is all guided by our core belief that everyone in our community should be treated justly and with dignity.
